About this service

Most leaks aren't through the shingles — they're through bad flashings, missed underlayment, or skipped ice-and-water shield. We do the boring stuff first, then the visible part.

We work asphalt shingles, standing-seam metal, and panel metal. We size ice-and-water on every eave and valley. We size venting to your soffit and ridge. We tear off, sheath if needed, and re-roof clean.

What's included

The honest take

Asphalt shingles last 20–30 years here. Standing-seam metal lasts 50+ but costs roughly double up front. We'll quote both side by side so you can see the math before you decide.

Roofing in Missoula & Western Montana

A Montana roof has to handle four feet of snow, ice dams in shoulder season, sun and UV at altitude, and serious wind exposure on ridgeline lots. The shingles or panels are the visible part — but the failures we see come from missed ice-and-water shield at the eaves, valleys, and penetrations, or from insufficient soffit-to-ridge ventilation that lets attics roast in summer and trap moisture in winter.

We work asphalt shingle, metal panel, and standing-seam roofs across Missoula, the Bitterroot, Seeley Lake, and up to the Flathead. Ice-and-water shield on every eave and valley is standard for us, not an upcharge. Ventilation is sized to your roof's geometry — soffit intake and ridge or off-ridge exhaust balanced properly. Flashing is the part nobody photographs but is the only reason roofs last.

Common project types

  • Full roof replacement — Tear-off, decking check, underlayment, new shingles or metal.
  • New construction roofing — Roofs on custom builds, additions, and outbuildings.
  • Metal roof conversions — Standing-seam or panel metal replacing aged asphalt.
  • Storm damage repair — Hail and wind damage assessed, documented, and repaired.
  • Ventilation upgrades — Soffit, ridge, and gable vents added to existing roofs.
FAQ

Roofing — frequently asked questions.

How long does a roof last in Western Montana?

20–30 years for asphalt shingles, 40–70+ years for metal and standing-seam — with proper ventilation, ice-and-water shield, and flashing. Inadequate ventilation can cut shingle life in half. We ventilate properly so you get the full lifespan.

Can I install metal roofing over my existing shingles?

Sometimes. Depends on the condition of the existing roof, the framing's load capacity, and local code. We assess case-by-case. Often it's cleaner to tear off first, but metal-over-asphalt can work and saves time and dump fees.

Do you handle roof replacement or just new construction?

Both. Full replacements, partial repairs on storm damage, and new builds. Most of our roofing work is replacement on existing homes in Missoula and the Bitterroot.

How quickly can you replace a roof after storm damage?

Typically 2–6 weeks from approval to completion, depending on material availability and weather. We tarp damaged areas the same day if needed to prevent further water intrusion while waiting on materials or insurance.
